Due to strong early demand from consignors, Ritchie Bros. has decided to set the stage for its premier global auction in Orlando, Fla., to be even bigger this year — extending the event to six days. Starting on Monday, Feb. 19 and running through Saturday, Feb.

Machinery auction expert Ritchie Bros. is about to raise its stake in the Australian market with the introduction of its new online-only brand: IronPlanet. Complementing Ritchie Bros.' onsite auctions, IronPlanet is an online-only marketplace offering new benefits to customers, including selling without transporting items to a centralized location and the ability to sell items for a fixed price, negotiate offers or set a reserve.

For the past three years, IronPlanet's GovPlanet marketplace has been helping the U.S. Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) sell thousands of its surplus assets. After seeing consistently strong returns, the DLA has extended its contract with GovPlanet until at least September 2018. "We sell hundreds of items per week for the DLA through our GovPlanet marketplace, including construction equipment, trucks, trailers, Humvees and more," said Greg Owens, group president, new sectors and ventures, Ritchie Bros.
